Iran University of Medical Sciences

The Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) is a prominent public medical university situated in Tehran, Iran. Established in 1974, IUMS is one of the largest academic health centers in Iran and the region. The university is located near the Milad Tower, which is the sixth-tallest tower in the world. Since 1986, the university has been functioning under the administrative authority of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.


IUMS is renowned for its exceptional academic programs and its students consistently rank among the top 1% of Iran’s students in the national ranking entrance exams for universities. The university offers ten schools, including Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery, Public Health, Health Management and Information Sciences, Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, Advanced Technologies in Medicine, Allied Medical Sciences, and Medicine and Pharmacy in its International Campus. IUMS also operates two centers, two institutes, twenty-nine research centers, seventeen teaching hospitals, and fifteen non-teaching hospitals in Tehran.


In addition to its academic and research facilities, IUMS offers healthcare services to the public through its numerous hospitals and clinics. The university is accredited with premier status by the Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC), which is recognized by the United Kingdom Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and the UK Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED).
